Apollon: Medical clearance for Goldson and squad updates for season opener

Apollon Limassol is finalizing its preparations for the league opener against Aris, with the technical staff closely monitoring the squad's injury updates. Club spokesperson Fanourios Konstantinou provided clarity on the recovery timelines for several key players ahead of the new season.

Goldson's recovery status

A significant update was provided regarding Connor Goldson’s rehabilitation process. The experienced defender has received medical clearance from his specialists in England and has commenced light running on the pitch. Although his body is responding well to the daily specialized program, the club emphasized that he will not be rushed, as he still requires time to regain full match fitness.

Regarding other squad absences:

  • Brandon Thomas and Weissbeck are confirmed to miss the first two matches of the season.
  • Garry Rodrigues and Kvida remain doubtful, with a decision on their inclusion in the squad expected after the final training session.

Preparation and season objectives

Following their exit from European competition, the team utilized the recent period for intensive double training sessions and friendly fixtures. The focus has now shifted entirely to tactical preparation as the matchday approaches.

The club anticipates a highly competitive championship, noting the increased stakes this season with four European spots available, including two for the Champions League. Facing Aris in the opening round is viewed as a demanding challenge, but the objective remains a winning start to a marathon season that concludes in May.
